“Your sacred space is where you can find yourself over and over again.”
― Joseph Campbell
For most of the past couple of weeks I’ve gone without having my altar up in my room, and I’ve just felt so lost. I don’t know where I’m at, and it’s so hard to focus on where I’m going. Everything around me feels hazy and it’s been really difficult to center myself. This time has taught me the importance of having a sacred space to draw upon the energies around me. Many people say that we hold within us all the sacred space we need, but I feel like that thinking just further separates my spiritual life from the mundane. I live in the physical realm, and so should my spirituality. They should be inseparable; constantly working in harmony to create wholeness. The reason for not having my altar set up during this time has been both for external and internal reasons, but the lesson I’ve learned from this experience has been worth it. I better understand what it means for a space to be truly sacred, and how beneficial my time spent at my altar is.
